About us

Built in Chicago, for the shops that keep it running.

Local businesses lose customers every day for one simple reason: nobody could pick up. The barber is mid-fade, the kitchen is slammed, the front desk is with a patient. Standby is the front desk that never steps away.

Why we built Standby

We got the idea for Standby sitting in our barber's chair. During one haircut the phone kept ringing, and nobody picked up. Nobody could: clippers in one hand, a customer in the chair.

We asked what happens to those calls. Most of them just call the next shop on Google.

That stuck with us. Big companies have call centers for this. Most local shops have one person, and that person is busy.

So we built Standby. When you can't pick up, it texts the caller back with your booking link, answers DMs, replies to reviews, and talks to customers in English, Spanish or French, using your own prices, hours and voice.

We're based in Chicago, and we're starting here on purpose: if something's not working at your shop, we can walk in and fix it with you.

Try it, and tell us what you think. We read everything.

How we work

01

We can show up in person

We're starting in Chicago so we can walk into your shop, set Standby up with you and hear what works and what doesn't.

02

Your customers, your voice

Standby only answers from what you tell it. It never invents prices or promises, and it hands off to you when it should.

03

Three languages from day one

English, Spanish and French are built into every plan, not sold as an upgrade.

04

No lock-in

No contracts, no setup fees. If Standby isn't paying for itself, cancel in two clicks.
